2004 Stonehorse GSM

A blend of Grenache (58%), Shiraz (34%) and Mourvedre (8%).

Although this is a biggish wine by alcohol standards it is still savoury and medium weight by our standards. Grenache contributes soft aromatics and flavours, Shiraz some palate spine and a bit of spice, and the Mourvedre provides breadth and depth.

A wine to enjoy now or age over the next 5 years.

2008 Old Vine Semillon

The 2008 vintage was punctuated with what turned out to be a record hot spell late in the season.   The heat stole about 25% of the yield but a good healthy canopy saved the fruit from sun burn.

Fruit was picked slightly greener in colour before it was allowed to go golden giving better natural acid and zesty flavours.

Left on light residual lees for 7 months. The Lees help support the palate weight.

2008 Old Vine Riesling

Historically Riesling has always had a pride of place in the Barossa, primarily due to our Silesian heritage. The other reason is still here after these years is that it works well.

At Kaesler we simply don’t have time to wait for our Riesling. We have avoided battery acid pH’s, and near neutral aromas. The wine was picked ripe with as much flavour as we could foresee. The ferment was warm to give the wine a richer, mouth feel and more forward fruitier nose, for more immediate enjoyment

2009 Rizza

This wine is a refreshing semi-sweet style of wine from 100% estate grown riesling. It has higher residual sugar levels and lower alcohol in the wine.

Enjoy this wine with food such as fresh fruit and cheese, dessert or serve it really cold as a refreshing aperitif on a hot day

2007 Cabernet Sauvignon

Our 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is made from fruit sourced from our Matthew’s Block Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in 1985.

Across our Kaesler vineyards in 2007, we were down nearly 65% on our crops. Many of the wines from this vintage are displaying very elegant characters and softer on the palate upon release. This wine is a good medium term cellaring wine 8-10 years.

2006 Avignon

The “Avignon” is a style of red wine composed of Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro (Mourvedre). The Grenache and Mataro vines are 70 years old and the Shiraz comes from vineyards 40 and 105 year’s old. It is a style that is designed to be savoury and compliment food.

The most pure Avignon to date. Almost a waste to drink it young, it will expand and develop over the next 10 years
